Is Your Running Pain Something More Serious?
One of the most important things I want runners to understand is that not every running injury involves a muscle or tendon. Sometimes, the problem is actually in the bone.
I’ve worked with runners who initially thought they were dealing with something minor, like shin splints or tendon pain, only to discover that they had a bone stress injury.
The tricky part is that these injuries don’t always present the way you’d expect. Some symptoms can seem harmless at first, and knowing what to look for can help you avoid making the injury worse.
Recognizing the early signs of a bone stress injury and knowing what to do next can make a big difference in your recovery and return to running.
In this video, I break down the warning signs I look for when evaluating runners, why certain symptoms concern me more than others, and the steps I recommend taking when a bone stress injury is suspected.
